20 www.ctaahq.org What is your name, title, and for whom do you work? My name is Robyn Coriarty. I am the assistant community manager at Vintage at the Grove for South Oxford Management. Which Nutmeg Award did you/your team win in 2019? Office Professional of the Year. How did you get into the industry? I started in the property man- agement industry in 2005 as a leasing agent for Taymil Partners. I have known Sarah Blood, who is currently a regional manager for SOM, both professionally and outside of work for a long time. I was working as a receptionist for a Salon and Spa (of whom she was a client) and she first told me of a leasing agent position open at the Taymil community in Manches- ter. Sarah started working for Tarragon in 2007 and once again recruited me for an opportuni- ty to lease at one of Tarragon's communities in Manchester. I started with Tarragon in August 2007 as a leasing agent and have made my way up the ladder to where I am today. What is your favorite thing about working in property management? I don't have just one favorite thing about working in property management. I love the customer service aspect and helping peo- ple. Knowing that I can make a difference in someone's life is very rewarding. I also love the fast pace, the fact that no two days are the same, and that the challenges never end! Describe something unique about your company/com - munity that you value. I love that we are not just a number here at SOM. Upper management truly cares about the entire team and totally support and encourage the continued growth of all their employees. I recently completed the CAM Certification course and I am very proud to share that I passed! What has been your most significant challenge/learn - ing experience? Our community manager had separated from the company, and for the next five months I carried both the manager and assistant manager job responsibilities. Time management was always important, but now even more than ever. During this period, the leasing team also went through many transitions. I was able to complete all tasks in a timely manner and learned the importance of being able to laugh when you wanted to cry. I grew both professionally and person- ally, becoming the leader I always wanted to be. Where do you see yourself in five years? Property management is now my passion, and I am hoping to continue to grow and eventually become a regional with SOM, which, in my opinion, is the best management company in the region.
