T he National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA) was found- ed in 1988 as the only national organization dedicated to ending discrimination in housing and is made up of over 220 private and nonpro t Fair Housing organizations, state and local civil rights agencies and individuals from across the United States. e organization recognizes the importance of home as a component of the American Dream and aids in the creation of diverse, barrier-free communities throughout the nation. e mission of the National Fair Housing Alliance is to elim- inate housing discrimination and ensure equal housing oppor- tunities for all people. is is not an easy task because of new challenges currently being faced due to the present political climate. e President and CEO of NFHA reports that some Federal, State and local government policies are pushing to reform existing Fair Housing and Fair Lending laws but not for the better. e NFHA recently published their 2019 Trends Report containing an overview of 2018 and 2019 Fair Housing News and made their own recommendations for furthering fair housing policies and laws. e following is a summary of their ndings and recommendations. e sta of the NFHA expressed concerns that the Fair Housing Act is “under attack” from the very agency charged with enforcing it — HUD. e organization spent 2019
