16 www.ctaahq.org I n 2015, e Simon Konover Company (TSKC) established a committee to provide resources to ensure a healthy workforce, creating a program called “Konnect 2 Wellness”. In the mission to advance the lives of its associates, TSKC sponsors activities, education, communication and motivation. When the committee met in early 2019, they were deter- mined to plan a year full of events, giveaways and programs that would motivate and empower. Enter TSKC’s 1st annual weight loss contest, similar to the one on national tv. “As a committee, we wanted to bring a healthy lifestyle to the forefront and in addition to sending recipes or exercise tips, by o ering a real incentive to improve our health.” said TSKC CFO Scott Lynch. e contest was broadcasted to all associates of TSKC; by the contest’s start date on March 6, 2019, there were 71 partic- ipants registered. e winner would be the person with the largest decrease in BMI; and would be awarded a prize of $1000! ere was also a prize for the property or department with the largest team percentage BMI decrease. On June 10, 2019, the winners were announced at TSKC corporate o ce by Mr. Lynch and HR Director Joanna Negron, accompanied by Konover Residential’s President Marie Mazzotta, Vice President Greg Konover, and Regional Managers Joanne Heckman and Paige Dinwoodie. Peter Schrader, Maintenance Technician, at Stepny Place Apartments in Rocky Hill, CT took home the cash prize of $1,000. Peter’s hard work resulted in a BMI reduction of 22%! In addition, Fair eld Apartments in Bridgeport, CT took home the prize for best property/ department with a team loss of 14%. “I am extremely proud that we had 71 participants and with an average BMI reduction of 7.85%. Peter did a great job, as well as Team Fair eld, and every associate who participated.
