But it can be challenging to create a sense of community online, to find interesting content to post, and the time to do it! Here are some powerful tools to gainmore followers and encourage more interaction: Remember your audience: Most of your audience are current and future resi- dents and others in the local community. Rather than advertising to them, you want to convey a sense of place and what sets your community apart from others. Sure, you may occasionally post specials or availability, but you want to focus on your great views, your amazing resident events, and your caring team! It’s not all about posting: Remember to interact with your followers. Like and comment on interesting posts. This is an easy step that’s often overlooked but is so important to en- courage others to interact with your account. So, congratulate that new local business down the street and ‘ooh and aw’ over that new puppy your resident just got! Post things that are inter- esting to you: Sometimes it’s hard to find what you hope are attention grab- bing posts. Don’t force it! Focus on articles, events, CTAA Social Media and others’ posts you find interesting and always have your phone ready to capture what’s happening in your com- munity to share. Schedule ahead of time: Although this can be more challenging on Instagram, you can easily schedule your posts on other social media sites. Set aside 30 minutes each week to find those inter- esting articles and events and schedule posts for the next week or two. Soon you’ll have a vibrant, interactive pres- ence online!
