12 www.ctaahq.org Tips for Getting Your Property Ready for the Snowy Months G ive your residents the tools to make it easier for you! • Provide a shovel, snow brush, and small bucket & scoop of ice melt at each entrance • Have your community check their heat now to ensure everything is working before temperatures drop too low • Send out a seasonal reminder to residents about your snowstorm plan and emergency numbers • Use email or text tools to commu- nicate throughout the season • Remind residents to leave heat on and let faucets drip through very cold weather Get your property ready now! • Ensure faucets and irrigation systems are winterized • Clean flat roofs, gutters, and roof drains to prevent water infiltration • Check that your fall preventative HVAC service is scheduled or complete • Clear storm drains and catch basins of leaves to minimize ice buildup down the road • Order ice-melt and any winter tools early • Review your storm plan with your snow vendor and/or maintenance team.
