ARS Restoration Specialists, I’m a Business Devel- opment Manager for the state of Connecticut and the surrounding area of New England. My main responsi- bility is to connect and build relationships with proper- ty-related businesses/organizations. I meet with key personnel and educate them about ARS and the bene ts of becoming a strategic business partner to utilize our services and education opportu- nities. Tell us a little bit about your work history. I’ve been in the disaster restoration industry for 12 years, starting at ServiceMaster Clean in their corpo- rate division for franchise support for seven years. I provided franchise support in the Mid-Atlantic area to 37 businesses which generated a total of $40 million in customer-level revenue. My support in detail ranged from nancial review (P/L and Balance sheet analysis) to operational training with each business. I also conducted marketing and sales training with in- dividuals as well as teams to help generate leads or new relationships for possible revenue growth. My region averaged a 15% increase each year during my term at ServiceMaster Clean. I joined ARS in September of 2012 to provide and assist in the growth of the Connecticut region and the surrounding area of New England. I provide my client base with a combination of experience, which enables me to put turn-key solutions in place for property man- agement professionals, and insurance industry profes- sionals. I am also experienced in strategic planning, budgeting, customer service and eet management. What is your favorite thing about working in your industry? I get to help and assist people every day with disaster planning or setting up an education opportunity or just connecting people to assist them with networking opportunities. “Givers Gain” is so true. What was your favorite part of the trade show this year? I really enjoyed the keynote speaker, Connie Podesta. I thought her presentation was funny and educational, requiring participation from everyone in the room. What do you enjoy most about working in New Haven? I enjoy New Haven. I grew up in East Haven and I enjoy meeting and spending time with people whom I grew up with. It’s pretty fascinating to see the residen- tial and commercial growth in New Haven. What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy all outdoor activities with my wife, Rita. In the summer months, we enjoy boating, shing, golf, biking, and hiking. In the winter months, we like traveling and visiting the YMCA in Branford to swim and work out. I also love to do small projects in and around my home, landscaping, and stone work. “WHO’S WHO?” N E W S L E T T E R 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 1. JIM BROOKS
